The Most AWESOMEST Mistake EVER!

So maybe BYU thinks I need to stay in school a bit longer to help with my grammar, I don't know. But for some reason, unknown to me, I received notification today that I have been awarded a.... HALF-RIDE SCHOLARSHIP for fall and winter of next year! Isn't that great? The weird thing is...I never applied for a scholarship.... I know you have to apply for things like this, and I also know you have to have a good GPA, neither of which I have. In fact, I actually got this same scholarship for my freshmen year (ya know, cuz my high school grades rocked!) but I promptly lost it, after my freshmen year. Well, I still have the same grades I did then, yet got it back...somehow. I did apply for a spring and summer scholarship awhile ago, and did receive that since I am now attending summer classes and the grade requirements aren't nearly as strict as for fall. But I purposefully didn't sign up for fall because I would have had to write some essays. And heck, money isn't w...

Gross Toilet Day

Today is officially Gross-Toilet Day. I know you're not thinking this is a real holiday, but it must be because on 3 seperate occasions I have gone to use a porcelain throne, and each time a different present has been left behind by the last user. That's kind of weird, seeing as how a person can only go number 1 or number 2, but somehow there have 3 different leftovers. Gross. Why are so many people not flushing all the way? Because it must be Gross Toilet Day! Sorry that this is probably a disturbing thing to write about, but after it happens to you 3 times in a day, you'll probably get fed up with it too and have to vent somewhere! So let our lesson be learned, and flush the toilet! ALL THE WAY! We are not cats. We do not have to leave disgusting presents on our owners front porch.

911 Emergency...Hold Please

This morning I was on my way to work with my friend Annalise who is my wonderful ride. While we were sitting in a left-turn lane on our green light waiting to turn left--obviously-- something crazy happened. The oncoming van started to turn right onto the street we were waiting to turn left onto, and out of nowhere, in came a speeddemon right through his red light and slammed into the van. Right in front of us. Talk about front-row seats! I think everyone stood still for about 30 seconds in shock. Annalise who was driving finally snapped out of it and pulled the car around so we could park and go see if everyone was alright. I got on the phone with 911 and Annalise called work to tell them we would be a little late today. When I got a representative, I told them about the wreck, she asked if there were airbags..I think.. and I said yes. She then said she was going to put me on hold. Ten minutes later..still on hold. What should I do? Call back so I can actually talk to someone? W...

Inconsiderate Neighbors!

We have these neighbors who live directly above our heads. They are nice people, and are actually children of our landlords, but sometimes, they really get under my skin. I will share 3 examples: 1) We have two regular sized garbage cans outside, one with our house number on it, for us, and another for them. For some reason, they don't seem to be able to make the distinction between the two. Granted, this problem is a lot better now than it used to be, but I will still mention it. They regularly fill their own garbage can within days of it being emptied, and promptly move to ours, rendering us unable to take our garbage out. It is so frustrating having a chuck-full garbage can just because someone else has a lot of junk, every week, and they think they should be able to use your can too. So I am stuck with stinky garbage inside until the garbage man comes. I have absolutely no problem with people topping off other's garbages, say, the morning of garbage day. This way, yo...

I'm a Victim of Identity Theft

So for the past few months I have been having problems getting my Verizon Wireless bill delivered to my house. Verizon says they have faithfully been sending paper bills to my house, and the post office says they are delivering everything, but alas, they are no where to be seen. Apparently they are being sent into the Bermuda Triangle and disappearing from there..POOF! Anyways, today I wanted to get ahold of the local post office while at work. I have a very ambitious and helpful co-worker named Annalise who decided to help me out. Before I could even say I was going to call the 800 number, she jumped on her phone saying she would be calling the 800 number to find out what our local post office's number was. Ok, I said, you're so helpful. Ü (We've been really bored at work lately, I think she is just looking for something to do!) Once she gets someone on the phone, they actually won't give her our local number because they are the customer service hotline, not anyone el...

Power, Who Needs Power?

I have been trying for a few days to figure out what to write about in my next blog. Finally, I have something! This morning, at about 10:30, while at work, our power decided to shut off. I think it was a Provo-wide outage, but we kind of need power in order to work at my place of work. It was funny because most of our computers shut down, but there are a few that are apparently hooked up to a generator which stayed on. So those poor saps who sat there had to take all the phone calls for the next 20 minutes while the rest of us partied with nothing to do. It is quite amazing how fast the entire floor heated up though. Without our precious AC that always keeps us freezing, within minutes we were uncomfortably sweating. I guess that is what happens when you have mass amounts of electronic devices (computers, huge printers, fax machines...) and they all tend to give off their own amount of heat. About an hour after the power came back on, they finally decided to turn the AC on as w...

Silly, Frantic Mothers

Ok, so I know I've already posted once for today, but I need to write these work stories down before I forget them. I hope people will forgive me, and still read my other blog that is now below this one. I see a common thread between all the work stories I have told so far, and the ones I am about to write about, they all happen to be about final exams. So here's some more for you to munch on. I am what you would call a supervisor at my job. This means that I get to take fun "Supervisor Calls" form angry parents who just know that the person they are talking to is a complete imbecile, so the demand to speak to a superior. I think sometimes they think we have the first people who answer the phones purposefully make up information to give them just to see if they will see through it and demand to talk to someone who knows what they're talking about. Yeah, sorry guys, that is not the case. The world does NOT revolve around you! Ok ok, so here's the stories alread...

Rock Climbing

Go AMY!! Musculy Man (with no good shoes on) Getting setup ARG! I'm a ZOMBIE! So, for the first time, in who knows how long, I went rock climbing this week. It was actually a family affair, including me, my husband, brother, and sister-in-law. And let me just say, they ALL showed me up. I think I do have good excuses, though. My brother and his wife go often. Jarom doesn't, but has gone before, and also tends to work out his upper arms, making him oh so musculy. This tends to help when it comes to pulling yourself up a mountain. I have never gone, and I am not strong, and I don't have rock climbing shoes. So I used my brother's shoes, which are boats. I had a few inches to spare at the tip of my toes, but this was a much better option than my sister-in-law's shoes which I may have been able...

Alaska, oh Alaska

Today I have several stories about Alaska. Due to my job, I have frequent contact with Alaskinians, and I have come to believe that they are from another planet. Here is why: 1) Last year I talked to a woman who was worried that her son wouldn't be able to take is final exam from us in time. This is a fair enough concern...until you hear her reasoning. The student goes to a charter school that is on the side of a river. The test is sitting at the charter school ready for the student to take. The student lives on the other side of the river in some dorms. In the summer time, they cross the river by boat. In the winter time, they walk across the ice. This must have been fall, because at this time, the river was too frozen to use a boat, but not frozen enough to walk across. So he couldn't GO TO SCHOOL!!! I'm sorry, what?!?!? Have they not invented bridges yet? 2) A couple days ago we encountered a lady who was taking a university class from us and lived in a town of...

One-Year!

Today marks my ONE-YEAR Anniversary!!! No, not of my wedding, that's May 4th. Today is exactly one year after the fateful day that I broke my finger playing volleyball. I shall recap for those who haven't heard... We were playing volleyball, at the horrible Colony net. Never play volleyball there. (We hadn't graduated to bigger and better things quite yet.) So I was in the center position at the net, and I jumped up for the ball, at the same time my tall friend Steve! also jumped. And swung. At the ball. And missed (the ball). Instead he cleanly came into contact with....my index finger! Straight down, jamming it down, down, into my palm. Okay, that's a little dramatic. Anyways, I think all I said was ouch. He promptly grabbed my finger and pulled it out, popping it, thinking that would make it feel better. I just thought it was jammed. So I decided to keep playing. You'd think I would have gotten the clue, when I couldn't stand still, had to keep pacing to ...
