Alchohol isn't Poisonous, Right?

Wednesday nights I have a class from 7-8:30. It is a pretty lame. I decided not to go to it tonight, especially since I did so well on an unrelated midterm this afternoon. So, Jarom and I decided to make smores. Instead of trying to hunt down some firewood and go outside into the cold to create the fire needed for smores, we decided to have an indoor fire. So we burned some alchohol, cooked our marshmallows over the alchohol fire, and gobbled up the delicious smores. I am just hoping there is nothing dangerous about cooking over alchohol...anyone know? I guess it's too late now. And here is a random picture of our nephew showing us how to play Wii boxing!

YES on Proposition 8

Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt children. If gay marriage remains legal, public schools will put it on equal footing with traditional marriage. Children will likely receive "age appropriate" information about sexual relations within heterosexual and homosexual marriages.Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt churches. The court's decision will inevitably lead to conflicts with religious liberty and free speech rights. Society will become more and more hostile to traditional beliefs about marriage and family. Over time, greater acceptance of nontraditional marriage will be demanded of all people. This could impact the ability of any religion to teach and practice its beliefs. Including adoption agencies.A YES vote will not hurt gays. In California, the law provides for marriage-related benefits to be given to civil unions and domestic partnerships. Proposition 8 does not diminish these benefits. For your information: On Friday, October 10th, 2008 a first-grade cla...

A prank? A joke? A necessity?

I have no idea what is going on. Why is this happening to us???? A few weeks ago, Jarom came out of work to come home. (He works from 3am to about 7am) When he got to the car, he noticed that both side mirrors had been pushed all the way forward into the car, completely unusable. Hmm, that's weird. So he pushed them back and readjusted his angle and came home. Last week, I got into the car to come to work, while at home, and noticed the SAME THING! Both mirrors had been pushed completely forward like someone in the car had been trying to squeeze through a tight spot. Jarom did not do it, I did not do it, WHO DID IT?!? This morning, it happened again, for the third time. Sometime in between Jarom getting home at 7am and me leaving at 7:45am, some mirror bandit comes by and pushes our mirrors out of work? What is that? Who does that?!?! LEAVE ME ALONE!

Proposition 8

In yesterday's Daily Universe, there was a letter to the editor regarding Proposition 8. I would like to comment on this letter. First of all, I understand that the paper tries to be unbiased on controversial issues that people write about. I know that they like to put both sides of the issue in the paper so people can see and express their honest opinions. However, I really feel that when someone writes something so obviously anti-Mormon, that they should not publish this piece. We are a private, church-run institution, and I don't feel that we should have to read crap that blatantly attacks what the church stands for. Proposition 8 is what will be voted for in November in California regarding same-sex marriages. The proposition would add a very clear definition of marriage. The definition would state that marriage only pertains to a man and a woman, not two members of the same sex. Here is a copy of what this person's letter said: "I am appalled at the numbe...

Homeless College Student??

Yesterday I had an interesting..um, experience? I don't really know what to call it. I got out of my first class a little early. So I went to my next class in the JSB auditorium to wait for it to begin. For those who don't know, this auditorium is huge. Probably one of the biggest on campus, if not the biggest. I picked one random, cozy looking seat and sat down. A couple moments later, I noticed, (this is going to be hard to describe), a girl who was sleeping on the ground in the row in front of me, tucked under the chairs so half of her was coming in to my aisle and overtaking my foot space. Her feet were coming through and her elbow. She even stretched and grabbed my foot in the process. AUGH! What do you do? So I just sat there and tried to ignore this weird stretching girl who was clearly not caring about the fact that people were coming in and sitting down all around her. About 10 minutes later, she finally got up onto her knees, on the ground, looked around for...

Ever Wonder What to do With Free Time at Work?

Recently we have plunged into the slowest time of the year at work. This means that we go minutes upon minutes in between phone calls, leaving so many empty minutes to be filled with our creative juices. Some people use this time to complete homework for classes. Others, think of what if scenarios that they then try to prove... Today was another particularly long and boring day. There were three of us sitting at the front desk available to help any student who would come walking through the door. When no such students ever showed up, we began to talk about the baseball bat that is stored in our drawer at the front desk. Several months ago we had a training on what to do if a raving gunman comes into our building about to shoot everyone to death. Yeah, sound pretty morbid? It was. But I guess it's good to be prepared. We even learned how to play dead. Anyway, after this way too informative meeting, our director decided to make us a little more prepared by placing metal baseb...
