Hide And Seek

Yesterday our mountains played a game of hide and seek. Now you see them! Now you don't! Both of these shots were taken right outside of our front door. Different times of year, obviously. The rainbow one isn't even at full clarity as usual because it was, well, raining and misty. But I think you still get the picture. Gross.

Ageism

So you know how white people think that all Asians look the same, or all black people look the same, or how any race basically thinks any other race all looks the same? I have learned that that phenomena also exists among different age groups. Apperantly there are three basic age groups. Middle Age, Old, and Younger-Than-Middle-Age. I fall into the Younger Than Middle Age category, so any middle aged person thinks that I look just like any other Younger-Than-Middle-Aged person and can't tell the difference between younger adults, teenagers, slightly older adults, or preteens. I know I have mentioned before that I have been mistaken as a junior high student a few times at my job. Well it happened again yesterday, and I just have to talk about it. I am sitting in a 7th GRADE class. Do you know how old 7th graders are? 11 and 12. Do you know how old I am? 23. The group of women who usually substitute for the school are quite busy yesterday, and they all know who I am, but one wife of ...

Unrecognizable

As a preface: There were two BYU men's volleyball games this weekend. One Friday night, one Saturday. We went to the Friday night one. Saturday Jarom wasn't feeling well so we stayed home. Both nights they played Pepperdine. Whenever we do go, we usually sit on the north side of the building, right down on the floor behind the servers. Saturday, about 15 minutes after we knew the game would have started, we turned on the TV to see if it was being broadcast. We found it. We watched for a few minutes. We saw our friend Craig on TV sitting where he always does behind the server. Our conversation went as follows: Jarom: "There's Craig!" Me: "Oh yeah, there he is." Me: "Who is that...right next to him? I don't recognize her." The camera pans away for a few moments so we have to wait for a better view. Jarom: "I don't know, she looks a lot like Lisa , but it's not." Waiting for a few more minutes. Camera comes back to Craig and ...

Evil

I have an evil nemesis. It comes by once a week, always at the same time. For the past few months I have been beating it, but not today. I wake up at 6:45 every weekday for work. Every Friday, between 6:46 and 6:50, the evil garbage truck comes to pick up our apartment's garbage. I have never actually seen this garbage truck, but from what it sounds like, it has to be some gigantic evil killing machine. Our bedroom window is right next to the path this truck takes back to the dumpster. Once it gets to the dumpster, it backs up, right past our window. Then it goes behind our complex to the other dumpster (We are on the corner, so all angles are right by our apartment). Then it comes back around front on the road to leave. But the worst part is when it drives right past our window. It is booming and rattling and shaking everything, and can wake you out of a dead sleep wondering what war has started. When it reverses, it just adds the annoying BEEP BEEP BEEP sound to all that already ...
