Probably. But not according to our group!
Did anyone see that huge storm that decided to grace our presence last night in Provo? You know, the one that DUMPED and DUMPED rain and had lightening everywhere right on top of us? Well, last night was a Thursday night. And Thursday nights are volleyball nights. So what were we doing last night? Of course! Playing volleyball...outside...in the dumping buckets of rain.
To our credit, when we started, it was only cloudy. And I watched the weather channel before we left the house and it didn't say anything about rain. So right when we were nearing our end of the day, we started our last game, and BAM! Water gushes from the heavens. Do we stop? Nope! Then...BAM! HUGE lightening bolt with extra loud thunder crashes down upon us. Instantly the old man who plays with us drops to the ground. Everyone stands stunned for a minute, and then bursts into laughter because he really did just drop for cover. From the lightening. And he was the only one. In fact, I don't think anyone has EVER seen him move THAT FAST before. It was like as instantaneously as the lightening itself, he was down. He said his instinct was just "Augh, loud noise, must get low to the ground!" Ha.
And did we stop then? Nope. We kept on playing with the thunder and lightening directly overhead. It was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. Or shout. Our eyes were getting pelted with rain so it was hard to see. Our bodies and clothes were soaked all the way through. The light and perfect volleyball became heavy, resembling a medicine ball. It hurt to hit and was near impossible to get over the net from the serving line. And everyone was laughing the whole time.
I have to say it was pretty crazy, but also really fun. Unfortunately, lots of rain does not create a good atmosphere for picture taking, so we weren't able to take pictures while playing. But I got a picture of part of the rainbow that showed up (we could see the whole thing, but my camera lense couldn't capture it all),
and an after-the-fact wet and soaked rat. Oops, I mean me. I was going to take a picture of Jarom also, but he was wearing black and his hair dries out instantly so you wouldn't have been able to tell he was wet from the picture anyway. (You can't really tell, but there is not one dry spot on that shirt.)
