How do weathermen keep their jobs when they're so wrong?!

People who live in Utah, do you remember about a month ago, two days before Thanksgiving, how they issued a "Severe Weather Warning" that was supposed to be the worst we've seen in years? For those of you not in Utah, it was supposed to be an awful snowy, blizzardy, cold cold day. It was so bad, that businesses closed down early in preparation for it. Even BYU, who I have NEVER seen shut down for a storm, closed it's doors at 3 Tuesday afternoon and was closed all of Wednesday in preparation for the Blizzard of 2010.

When all was said and done, Utah County had about a half an inch of snow on the ground. OOOO, scary! Yeah, they were totally off. Granted, I will give them that areas north of us actually did get more snow and bad weather, but my issue is that they predicted it would reach as far south as us, and it so did not.

Well, today it is snowing. It has been snowing for more than 24 hours straight. I have lost count of when it started. This is the biggest storm we've had all year. There's at least 13 inches on the ground. Jarom tried to go to work this morning, and physically could not make it. He unburied our car at 3am, started plowing through the un-snowplowed roads, made it to BYU where he tried going up the hill on North Campus Drive by the Hinkley Building, and could not make it up. Again and again he tried, but it was just too slippery and for some reason no one thought it might be good to plow. He then turned around and made his way home.

Anyways, my whole point to this is that there was no severe weather warning put into effect. Until this morning. I'm sorry, but if you issue a WARNING in the middle of the storm, it's a bit late. It's no longer a warning, just a statement. "By the way, you are having severe weather right now!" Gee thanks for the heads up.

So my question is, how do weathermen keep their jobs? They are so off! All the time! And no one seems to care!

While I'm on this note, how do snow plow drivers keep THEIR jobs?! This last week or so I have seen many snow plows out diligently keeping the roads clear, when there was NOTHING on the road to scrape off!! It was mainly raining, with a little hint of mushy rain, and they were out. Today? Last night? With actual snow? No where to be seen. I saw on the news last month, after our FIRST storm, that Salt Lake had used 75% of it's TOTAL budget for snow plow removal. In ONE STORM! In NOVEMBER! What are we going to do for the rest of winter?! Die?

Anyways, enough ranting. I just think some things are dumb. But here are some pictures from our front door. I think the snow is pretty and nice before it all turns to slush. I'm just glad I don't have anywhere to go today.

Curb Appeal Galore

Things I've learned about babies

These are things I never realized or knew about babies that I have learned since having one of my own! -Babies are grimy. I still don't understand how they can get so dirty. How did you get all this dirt under your fingernails!? You can't even DO anything with your fingers! -You know that soft spot on their head? You can totally see their heartbeat in it sometimes. It's kind of disconcerting. -Once you finally figure out some type of routine or normalcy......it changes. -Apparently babies can still "bite" their tongues, even though they don't have teeth. I guess technically they're gumming their tongue? Which doesn't sound too painful, but when a red pinched blood vessel looking thing shows up on the tip of your baby's tongue, you realize that it might be a bit painful. -Babies have to be pretty tough, they experience a lot of pain! Good and Bad Discoveries of the Week

This week we have discovered the secret to life in Provo!! I am serious, it's the best thing ever, and everyone who lives in or near Provo, must take advantage of this secret to life. 1. Go to the Winsong movie theater 2. Purchase a ticket for "Take" (preferably Matinee) 3. Preferably, do not watch this movie because it is a waste of time. But if you have nothing better to do with yourself, go ahead and watch it. 4. Take your movie stub to the dollar theater located by Costco in Orem 5. Finally, enjoy UNLIMITED free movies at this theater. That's right, I said UNLIMITED FREE MOVIES at the dollar theater. I know this sounds to good to be true, but it is oh so true. I have done it, and it works. Last night, we watched a free Indiana Jones from this movie ticket. It was amazing. The movie Take is pretty worthless, but the reward is priceless.
