Christmas Update #1

My parents are in town for the Christmas Vacation, and we've been having lots of fun. They got in Thursday night and we (and my brother and sister-in-law) all went out to eat at Sizzler. On Christmas Eve we hung around at home for awhile, played the piano. And then went to Temple Square to see the lights. We got some pictures of the area and of us in the daylight, then we headed over to see my brother's lab. He is a grad student Utah. While there we looked at various things underneath an electron microscope, including bugs and Jarom's eyelash. Pictures of that are to come.

Unfortunately we forgot to make plans for dinner, so by the time we got hungry, around 7 ish, we started looking for a restaurant to eat at in Salt Lake and they were all closed! Who closes down on Christmas Eve!? ha. Luckily we finally found on cafe that would be open for another half hour, so we ran in and ate quickly. Then we continued our tour of Temple Square for the nighttime events. So here are pictures of our Christmas Eve adventures.

Then on Christmas Day of course we opened presents. Then we went over to brother's house where parents were at too and opened MORE presents. Then we decided we needed new family photos, so we attempted to take some of them. I'm not sure which one's I like the best, either of just us as a couple or as a whole family. Please give input if you have an opinion as to which look the best!

Category 2: pose 3 except Jarom's face is kind of hidden by your head so maybe pose 1 but your mom doesn't look very happy in that but pose 2 is weird.

Good and Bad Discoveries of the Week

This week we have discovered the secret to life in Provo!! I am serious, it's the best thing ever, and everyone who lives in or near Provo, must take advantage of this secret to life. 1. Go to the Winsong movie theater 2. Purchase a ticket for "Take" (preferably Matinee) 3. Preferably, do not watch this movie because it is a waste of time. But if you have nothing better to do with yourself, go ahead and watch it. 4. Take your movie stub to the dollar theater located by Costco in Orem 5. Finally, enjoy UNLIMITED free movies at this theater. That's right, I said UNLIMITED FREE MOVIES at the dollar theater. I know this sounds to good to be true, but it is oh so true. I have done it, and it works. Last night, we watched a free Indiana Jones from this movie ticket. It was amazing. The movie Take is pretty worthless, but the reward is priceless. Cake 2.0

Here is our second attempt at fondant covered, decorated cake. We're still working on getting things smoother looking and stuff. It's a chocolate cake with caramel filling. Unfortunately the caramel didn't turn out quite like it was supposed to. It turned into basically sugar. It's probably because I was lazy and used margarine instead of butter. But it's still sweet and that's what's important right?

Going Away Present

Tomorrow is going to be my last day of work at good old Independent Study. It's kind of sad, but also kind of exciting and scary all at the same time. It's sad because I've been here for so long. This is the longest I've ever had one job, and I have made a lot of really good friends here. It's exciting because I will get to have a lot of time off to do whatever I want during the day! And it's scary because I don't have another job lined up yet. After 6 months of applying and interviewing, I'm still none the better for it. I was lucky enough to have one co-worker who cared enough about me and my departure to give me a going-away present.
