As most of you should know, this weekend is General Conference Weekend. This is always an exciting time. I always look forward to hearing what the leaders of the Church have to say, and I enjoy the Spirit that resides in the meetings. But, I think I had an interesting day yesterday, after Conference was over.

This year was special for us because my parents were able to come into town with some tickets for the Saturday afternoon session, as well as the priesthood session. So we were able to trek up to Salt Lake and see the session in person. Always a neat experience I think. I love listening to the organ and choir in person, and looking down at the General Authorities in person, even if they're pretty minuscule looking.
Anyways, after that session, we all walked around Temple Square for a little while, and then sent the boys back to priesthood while we had a girls night. We had all come prepared with a change of clothes so we could walk around in jeans and not be freezing. Unfortunately for me, I left mine in American Fork. So the other two girls (mom and Amy-sister-in-law) got to get comfy and changed. I stayed dressed up. We decided to walk down to the planetarium at the Gateway? I think that's what it was called. So we walked down a few blocks. While walking, we noticed we were going against the flow of traffic, of men. All men in the area were heading towards the Conference Center in suits and ties..we were trying to get past them to go away from the conference center. We finally made it to our destination, and were able to enjoy a 40 minute clip of Under the Sea, narrated by Jim Carrey in 3-D. It was actually really neat, it looked like you were in the water, or staring straight into an aquarium or something. Besides the political propaganda they threw into the end of how it's our fault some sea life is dying because of global warming, it was an enjoyable show. Unfortunately we had to return our awesome glasses at the end.

After that, we were able to see the Planetarium show for free because of some weird mishap. It was pretty interesting, but I have already learned most the stuff from my astronomy class I took in college. I have to admit I dosed a little bit...you know, dark lights, reclining chairs...it's hard to resist. Once it ended, however, I made a very unfortunate discovery. I found one, then two, FINGERNAIL CLIPPINGS IN MY HAIR! GROSS!!!!!! Who would do that to someone!?!? Gross gross. That made me paranoid, I was constantly reaching up to my hair trying to feel for any more. Ugh. Yuck. I wasn't snoring was I? Why would you do that to me!
After that show we started heading back up to the Conference Center to pick up the guys. Again, we found ourselves fighting against the flow of man traffic. They were everywhere. Some almost bowled me over. We quickly found our men and then walked back to the car. Here is where we tried to find a shortcut to get out of the long line of people. It went all the way up and around the building up to the parking lot we were parked at, and ended at a locked gate. Here's where the significance of my skirt-wearing comes in. Everyone else was in pants, and easily hopped the gate. I was the last to cross. Luckily I wore the right skirt because it was pretty stretchy so I was able to get around without anything tragic happening...Besides the fact that my entire family stood on the other side laughing and waiting for me to make a tragic mistake.
Once we got to the car, we got to fight traffic for awhile, and eventually found our way to a Mexican restaurant called "Red Iguana." This is supposed to be one of the best, if not THE best Mexican food places in SLC. Seeing as it was Amy's birthday, we followed her on her wishes to come here. I am not a big food connoisseur, so don't ask me if it really WAS the best, because I have no idea. But it was good and enjoyable. Especially the singing Mexicans with their guitars who walk around the tiny corridors of the bright pink restaurant to entertain you. Oh, and the fact that the floor was slanted. Or maybe it was the whole building, I couldn't tell. But our table was definitely slanted, and it wasn't because the table was built wrong. That's just how the floor went. So I was leaning the opposite way to counteract the forces of gravity.

All in all, a good day.
