Are We THAT Unusual?

Today after church we had choir. During choir, an older man was sitting next to Jarom. I was on the opposite side, sitting by no one because I'm at the piano.  This man casually asked Jarom if he and I were courting......or if we were married.

We have lived here for 4 and a half years. We have been married that entire time. He has never known us as not married. He has talked to both me and Jarom on different occasions, it's not like we've never spoken before. Not to mention I'm six months pregnant.

When Jarom told me this story, I just couldn't wrap my head around why in the world he would ask that.

Then Jarom expounded and said this man commented that we act more like a courting couple when we sit in church than a married couple.

We hold hands.

We don't make out, lay all over each other, become permanently entwined so that there is no difference between him and me......

We hold hands.

Apparently, once you get married you stop holding hands.

Well I am proud to say that I have been married for six years, and I still like my husband, so much so, that I willingly hold his hand. Who would have thought? I actually like to be with him!

Curb Appeal Galore

This post is to document the journey our outside of our house has been on over the last few years. A lot of these projects I took on this summer, and a few I did earlier. I am so happy with where we are currently at, but still have some plans before it's finished. So, here is what it looked like the day we bought the house. Seven years ago. Don't let the "grass" fool you. It's just weeds. And the ugly brown window trims paired with the ridiculously old glass in the windows and the green brick with maroon grout. Not too pretty. We have since painted the door, trim, and replaced the windows. Also replaced the porch light and house numbers.  This spring we also had a new concrete half circle driveway installed. We live on a busy street and our front yard is useless and our driveway is tiny. So now we have much more functionality, less weeds, and overall happiness. After the driveway was installed, I also ripped out the rest of the grass and installed some decorative...

Going Away Present

Tomorrow is going to be my last day of work at good old Independent Study. It's kind of sad, but also kind of exciting and scary all at the same time. It's sad because I've been here for so long. This is the longest I've ever had one job, and I have made a lot of really good friends here. It's exciting because I will get to have a lot of time off to do whatever I want during the day! And it's scary because I don't have another job lined up yet. After 6 months of applying and interviewing, I'm still none the better for it. I was lucky enough to have one co-worker who cared enough about me and my departure to give me a going-away present. I don't really know why I'm sharing it with you, but here it is: This is the picture he used as a reference to update mine with: Any resemblance? It took him two days to create this picture. He said I was wise enough to become a General Authority. I told him I would have to be a man for that. So he decided to mak...

A couple of days of randomness

I have a couple stories from the past couple days I thought would be fun to share. Yesterday I had a job interview!!! It is for my boss's job at Independent Study. She is having a baby, so I want her job. We shall see how that turns out. After the interview I was waiting in the parking lot for Jarom to come pick me up. While I was waiting there, a lost traveler asked me for directions to the Wilkenson parking lot. I told her to take a right out of the parking lot, then a right at the stop light, and blah blah blah. She thanked my and proceeded on her trek. I then became aware of why she was lost. She took a left out of the parking lot. Not a right, a left. I said right. One left does not equal two rights. It must be hard to get places if you get your lefts and rights mixed up. Poor lady. Yesterday we also decided to drive up to view an apartment that is for rent. We are getting kicked out of ours since our landlord's daughter wants to live there. It is kind of funny cuz m...
