Unrecognizable

As a preface: There were two BYU men's volleyball games this weekend. One Friday night, one Saturday. We went to the Friday night one. Saturday Jarom wasn't feeling well so we stayed home. Both nights they played Pepperdine. Whenever we do go, we usually sit on the north side of the building, right down on the floor behind the servers.

Saturday, about 15 minutes after we knew the game would have started, we turned on the TV to see if it was being broadcast.

We found it.

We watched for a few minutes. We saw our friend Craig on TV sitting where he always does behind the server. Our conversation went as follows:

Jarom: "There's Craig!"

Me: "Oh yeah, there he is."

Me: "Who is that...right next to him? I don't recognize her."

The camera pans away for a few moments so we have to wait for a better view.

Jarom: "I don't know, she looks a lot like Lisa, but it's not."

Waiting for a few more minutes.

Camera comes back to Craig and mystery girl.

Me: "Oh...That's me!"

Confusion.

Come to find out, we were watching the game that happened the night before. It wasn't live. The current game was not on. I was watching myself. I relate this to what people describe as having and out-of-body experience, looking down on themselves. The saddest part, obviously, is that I didn't recognize myself. And neither did Jarom. Wow we are lame. I'm going to say it's because I just got a haircut..yes. That is a good reason.

Oh, and to add to that, the fact that Jarom thought of me looking like Lisa. Lisa and I already have a hard enough time with people getting us mixed up and thinking we're sisters...or the same person. I thought I was safe with my husband...

Curb Appeal Galore

This post is to document the journey our outside of our house has been on over the last few years. A lot of these projects I took on this summer, and a few I did earlier. I am so happy with where we are currently at, but still have some plans before it's finished. So, here is what it looked like the day we bought the house. Seven years ago. Don't let the "grass" fool you. It's just weeds. And the ugly brown window trims paired with the ridiculously old glass in the windows and the green brick with maroon grout. Not too pretty. We have since painted the door, trim, and replaced the windows. Also replaced the porch light and house numbers.  This spring we also had a new concrete half circle driveway installed. We live on a busy street and our front yard is useless and our driveway is tiny. So now we have much more functionality, less weeds, and overall happiness. After the driveway was installed, I also ripped out the rest of the grass and installed some decorative...

Going Away Present

Tomorrow is going to be my last day of work at good old Independent Study. It's kind of sad, but also kind of exciting and scary all at the same time. It's sad because I've been here for so long. This is the longest I've ever had one job, and I have made a lot of really good friends here. It's exciting because I will get to have a lot of time off to do whatever I want during the day! And it's scary because I don't have another job lined up yet. After 6 months of applying and interviewing, I'm still none the better for it. I was lucky enough to have one co-worker who cared enough about me and my departure to give me a going-away present. I don't really know why I'm sharing it with you, but here it is: This is the picture he used as a reference to update mine with: Any resemblance? It took him two days to create this picture. He said I was wise enough to become a General Authority. I told him I would have to be a man for that. So he decided to mak...

A couple of days of randomness

I have a couple stories from the past couple days I thought would be fun to share. Yesterday I had a job interview!!! It is for my boss's job at Independent Study. She is having a baby, so I want her job. We shall see how that turns out. After the interview I was waiting in the parking lot for Jarom to come pick me up. While I was waiting there, a lost traveler asked me for directions to the Wilkenson parking lot. I told her to take a right out of the parking lot, then a right at the stop light, and blah blah blah. She thanked my and proceeded on her trek. I then became aware of why she was lost. She took a left out of the parking lot. Not a right, a left. I said right. One left does not equal two rights. It must be hard to get places if you get your lefts and rights mixed up. Poor lady. Yesterday we also decided to drive up to view an apartment that is for rent. We are getting kicked out of ours since our landlord's daughter wants to live there. It is kind of funny cuz m...
